Four Hoof Acres Senior Home Horse Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary dedicated to providing lifelong care for senior horses in Penrose, Colorado.

One Rescue Helping Another
Our horses receive expert care from the veterinarians at Fourmile Veterinary Clinic. When it comes time to consider the end of a horse's life, we prioritize their quality of life and work closely with the veterinarians to make compassionate decisions, including euthanasia when recommended.
We honor our horses by allowing their lives to continue in a meaningful way, as we donate their remains to support the nourishment of wolves. Before this process, a heartfelt ceremony is held to celebrate and honor each horse's life and contribution. The horses are then respectfully processed, similar to standard practices in the agricultural industry.

This is Sugar who was kicked in the eye and needed immediate surgery. Her eye had to be removed. She was such a sweet and loving horse. She ended up passing due to the owner not knowing she had Cushing's and treatment came too late..
This is Uno who tore his neck open in a trailer. He required immediate medical attention and around the clock medical care. Roxi (Vice President and Trainer) did an amazing job caring for him and getting him healthy
This is Big Red! He came to us in such terrible condition, but we were able get him looking great again. We had a special bond with him. He was such a kind and loving horse. He loved kisses and gave many hugs.
